
Sebastien Thinel Wins Joe Burton Scoring Championship

TEMPE, AZ (March 27, 2011) - With the conclusion of the Central Hockey League's (CHL) regular season, Odessa forward Sebastien Thinel has been named the winner of the Joe Burton Scoring Championship finishing the regular season with 110 points (35 goals, 75 assists).
The award is given annually to the league's leading scorer and is presented in honor of Joe Burton, the CHL's career leader with 985 points accumulated over 11 seasons with the Oklahoma City Blazers.
Thinel wins the honor for the second time in the last three seasons and is also a candidate for the CHL Most Valuable Player award which will be announced on Monday, March 28. Thinel is a finalist along with Rapid City's Ryan Menei, Colorado's Riley Nelson, Missouri's Robby Nolan and Allen's Colton Yellow Horn.
The St. Jerome, Quebec native won the regular season scoring championship quiet easily finishing 11 points ahead of teammate Todd Robinson who ends up second in scoring with 99 points (29 goals, 70 assists).
The CHL All-Star and member of the 2011 All-CHL Team recorded three points or more in 15 games and finished the season on a tear scoring 15 goals with 14 assists in the month of March. His 15 scores in March are as many as he recorded in November, December, January and February combined (15 goals combined in those four months).
Over the past three seasons, no CHL player has scored more points than Thinel who has accumulated 304 points (95 goals, 209 assists) over the past three campaigns.
