Mississippi RiverKings News Release

The Mississippi RiverKings are set to take on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs tonight at the Century Tel Center in Bossier City, LA. Game time this evening is 7:05 PM.

MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME: While the Northeast Division rivals have already played each other six times, there are six more games to go in the season series between the teams, beginning with tonight's contest. Bossier-Shreveport enters the night with a 5-1-0 record against the RiverKings, who are 1-5-0 against the Mudbugs. Mississippi's only win of the series came December 31st in a 6-0 whitewashing of the 'Bugs at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven.

RECORDS: Mississippi is 37-14-3 for 77 points and first place in the Northeast Division, second place overall in the Northern Conference playoff ladder and in third place in the overall CHL league race.

Bossier-Shreveport is 35-15-4 for 74 points and second place in the Northeast Division.

EIGHT'S GREAT AFTER CONQUEST OF COLORADO: The RiverKings enter tonight's game off a 4-3 shootout decision over the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night at the DCC. Mississippi overcame a 3-1 deficit for the team's eighth straight victory, finishing the month of February with an 11-0-1 record. Louis Dumont scored the game-tying shorthanded goal in the third period, then produced the game-winning goal in the shootout. Kevin Beech won his 30th game of the season in goal, also aided by two assists from Derek Landmesser.

TICKETS PUNCHED, BUT WHERE TO SIT? The five Northern Conference playoff teams have been determined, but still to be determined is where they will finish on the playoff ladder at the end of the year. The five playoff teams from the North are Colorado, Mississippi, Bossier-Shreveport, Oklahoma City and Rocky Mountain. Only two teams--Odessa, and Texas--have assured themselves of playoff spots in the Southern Conference.

KEEPING THE POINT STREAK ALIVE: Mississippi enters March having earned 23 of 24 possible standings points during the month of February. During the second month of the year, the RiverKings were 11-0-1, with the only blemish on the record being a shootout loss to Rocky Mountain.

WHERE TO NEXT? The RiverKings head to Tulsa to meet the Tulsa Oilers in a Friday night contest at the BOK Center, beginning at 7:35 PM. Then, Mississippi heads back to Bossier-Shreveport for a return engagement with the Mudbugs on Saturday night at 7:05 PM, followed by a Sunday afternoon matinee in Odessa at 4:05 PM, before returning home to the Mid-South.

WE'LL BE HOME SOON: Mississippi's next home games are March 13th and 14th against the Bossier-Shreveport at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Tickets remain available and more ticket information can be found by calling the RiverKings' front offices at 662-342-1755 today!
