Colorado Skates Past New Mexico

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-Colorado scored early and never looked back as they beat New Mexico 4-1 on Tuesday night. The loss kept the Scorpions four points behind Arizona in the Southern Conference playoff race.

Colorado took control early in the game scoring on their first two shots. Riley Nelson scored his 23rd goal of the season 2:57 into the contest. Kevin Ulanski made it 2-0 as his snap shot flew past Kyle McNulty's glove and into the net.

Colorado grew the lead in the second period as Konrad Reeder picked up his own rebound and banked home a goal. Morgan Cey kept his team in front with repeated pad saves throughout the middle period.

The Eagles got their biggest lead of the game as Ryan Tobler tipped in a power play goal. The Scorpions got on the board as Craig Macdonald skated into the zone untouched, and scored a shorthanded goal making it 4-1.

On Friday March 6th the Scorpions will host the annual Lobo Club night. Special UNM themed jerseys will be worn and auctioned off following the game to benefit the Lobo Club.
