SALT LAKE CITY - Tyson Ross retired the first 17 batters he faced Friday night, tossing his first complete game of the season in Sacramento's 7-2 win over the Salt Lake Bees at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

Ross (4-2) faced just five batters over the minimum, striking out eight batters without issuing a walk. He threw 68 of his pitches for strikes in the River Cats' third complete game of the season, leading the River Cats to their third-straight win and a 3-1 series victory.

The River Cats jumped ahead early, scoring all seven of their runs before Salt Lake had a man reach base. Michael Taylor drove in the first run of the night with an RBI single, and later scored on a Salt Lake error. Sacramento added single runs in the second and fourth before putting the game out of reach with a three-run fifth.

Salt Lake starter Brad Mills (4-6) was tagged with the loss, allowing all seven River Cats runs-six earned-in just 4.2 innings of work.

Seven-of-nine Sacramento starters registered hits, including five players with a pair of base hits. Wes Timmons continued his hot hitting with another two-hit night, while Adam Rosales went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Sacramento will open a four-game set with the Reno Aces Saturday night, when it sends RHP Dan Straily (4-2, 0.96 ERA) to the mound against Reno right-hander Joe Martinez (10-6, 5.11 ERA). First pitch from Aces Ballpark is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.

The River Cats return to Raley Field on Wednesday, August 1 at 7:05 p.m. to open an eight-game homestand against the Memphis Redbirds and Nashville Sounds, which will kick off Tennessee Week presented by Jack Daniel's.
