TACOMA, Wash. -- Luis Rodriguez hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning to give the Tacoma Rainiers a 2-1 walk-off win over the Tucson Padres in front of 6,683 fans at Cheney Stadium on Friday.

Trailing 1-0, the first two Tacoma batters in the inning collected outs before third baseman Alex Liddi drew a seven-pitch walk. In the Rainiers next at-bat, the infielder Rodriguez hit his 10th home run of the season off Erik Hamren in the team's next at-bat to earn the Rainiers a series split with the Padres.

The game was scoreless through 7.2 innings before Tucson pulled ahead with a run in the eighth. Shortstop Beemer Weems hit a solo home run off Tacoma starter Steve Garrison to give the Padres a 1-0 edge until Rodriguez's heroics in the ninth.

Garrison turned in the strongest start of his 2012 campaign in the contest. The left-hander tossed a season-high 8.0 innings, holding Tucson to four hits and allowing only the home run to Weems in the eighth. He struck out four Padres without issuing a walk.

Reliever Brian Moran (2-1) picked up the win after tossing a scoreless 0.1 innings in the ninth. Right-hander Steven Hensley collected the first two outs of the frame.

The Rainiers (43-63) hit the road and head to Tucson to open a four-day, five-game series at the Padres (40-65) on Saturday, July 28. Left-handed pitching prospect Danny Hultzen (1-2, 4.33) is slated to start the game for Tacoma in the contest against left-hander Andrew Werner (0-0, -.--) for the Padres.
