River Cats Fall to Aces, 13-3

West Sacramento, Calif. - Manny Ramirez went 1-for-4 in his Raley Field debut, but the River Cats fell to the visiting Reno Aces by a score of 13-3 in Friday's series-opener.

The River Cats scored once each in the first, fourth and fifth innings and carried a 3-1 lead into the seventh. However, they gave up two runs in the seventh, six runs in a rain-soaked eighth and four runs in the ninth, ultimately losing to Reno, 13-3.

Brandon Inge went 1-for-2 with an RBI in his first rehab appearance with the River Cats, hitting second in the order. Hitting third and playing in his first game as a Cat at Raley Field, Ramirez finished 1-for-4 and is now 5-for-20 (.250) in six games as a River Cat. Outfielder Brandon Moss clubbed his team-leading 11th home run, finishing 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Sacramento's starting pitcher Travis Banwart allowed one unearned run on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in six innings of work. Rich Thompson lost, giving up four earned runs in 0.1 innings, surrendering one hit and three walks in the rain-drenched eighth frame.

Aces starter Charles Brewer gave up three earned runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings pitched in a no-decision. Lefty Zach Kroenke earned the win, pitching three shutout innings of relief. Outfielder Adam Eaton went 4-for-5 with a triple and four runs scored.

Game two of the series is set for Saturday at 7:05 p.m. for Sutter Health Postgame Fireworks at Raley Field. Cats RHP Bruce Billings (3-1, 3.15 ERA) will start opposite Aces LHP Patrick Corbin (0-0, No ERA).
