Reno Aces News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - After a 13-run, 17-hit effort on Friday, the Reno Aces were shutout on Saturday night, falling 10-0 to the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field.
The River Cats scored a run in each of the game's first four innings and never looked back. Sacramento's Bruce Billings worked eight scoreless frames, as the Aces managed just four hits on the night. It was just the third time Reno has been shutout this season.
Patrick Corbin (0-1), who was optioned to Reno by the Diamondbacks earlier in the week, took the loss in his Aces debut, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings of work. Corbin walked five, struck out five and surrendered two home runs. After Corbin's exit, Bryan Woodall allowed four runs in the sixth, and Jason Lane allowed two more in the seventh. Taylor Sinclair worked a scoreless eighth.
Billings (4-1) earned the victory, scattering three hits with eight strikeouts and no walks.
At the plate for Reno, Cole Gillespie doubled, while Jake Elmore singled twice. The Aces went hitless in five at-bats with runners in scoring position.
The Aces and River Cats resume the series on Sunday night at Raley Field. RHP Barry Enright (4-2, 4.41 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while Sacramento counters with RHP Brad Peacock (5-2, 5.14 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 630 AM or online at RenoAces.com.
The Aces return home on May 29 for a four-game series against the Tacoma Rainiers. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
