Comeback attempt falls short

Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres left at least one runner on base in their final three innings Saturday, as their comeback attempt fell short in a 6-4 loss at Tacoma. The Rainiers scored twice in the third inning and three times in the fourth to push ahead to their fourth straight win. Like Friday's game, neither team scored after the fifth inning.
Tucson starter Colt Hynes pitched four innings and allowed six runs, four earned. The Padres once again had great relief pitching, with Jason Ray and Cory Burns tossing two scoreless innings each. Burns struck out three in the seventh inning, including a punchout of Mike Wilson to end the inning and leave runners at second and third.
The Padres have lost three games in a row and now have a 17-32 record. Cody Decker went 3-for-5 with his first Triple-A home run, his 15th of the season combined between San Antonio and Tucson. Yasmani Grandal had three hits for the T-Pads and also threw out Tacoma's Scott Savastano trying to steal second base in the eighth inning.
