West Sacramento , Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats defeated the Omaha Royals, 3-2, in the two clubs' series opener on Thursday night at Raley Field. The top of the Cats line-up got the job done offensively, as the 1-2-3 hitters went a combined 7-for-10 with 2 2B and 2 RBI on the night. Cats third baseman Scott McClain hit a 2nd inning solo home run to left field that nearly cleared the River Cats clubhouse. Reliever Adam Johnson earned the win, giving up just one hit and striking out two in 2 1/3 innings of work in relief of starter Dan Meyer.
