Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK - The Express hit for the cycle as a team and starter Philip Barzilla overcame a shaky first-inning to help Round Rock pick up its second straight win, an 8-3 victory over Tucson at The Dell Diamond.
Royce Huffman and Luke Scott both homered for Round Rock and Cody Ransom collected his first triple of the year. Barzilla picked up his first victory, scattering four hits, four strikeouts and a pair of walks over six innings.
Round Rock returned from a 4-4 road trip with a three-run second-inning that helped erase an early 1-0 deficit. Alan Zinter led the inning off with a walk, followed by a Brooks Conrad single past second base.
Huffman then launched a 2-0 delivery from Sidewinders starter Kevin Jarvis into the Home Run deck above left field to give Round Rock a 3-1 lead.
Scott, who also doubled in the game, pushed the lead to four runs with a two-run blast in the fifth. The Express put up three more runs in the seventh inning and Brandon Puffer came on to close out the final 1 1/3 innings without allowing a base runner for Round Rock.
The two teams meet again on Fireworks Friday at 7:05 p.m. at The Dell Diamond.
