DAVENPORT, Iowa - Quad Cities claimed the rubber game, 14-5, on Monday afternoon over Cedar Rapids. Every Quad Cities starter recorded at least one hit in the series finale.

Quad Cities scored five runs and sent 11 hitters to the plate in the bottom of the third. Bobby Boyd led off the frame with a single to center. Jason Martin and Alex Bregman then drew back-to-back walks, loading the bases full of River Bandits. Nick Tanielu put Quad Cities up 2-0 with a two-run single down the right field line, plating both Boyd and Martin. Tanielu's two-run single also moved Bregman from first to third. Ramon Laureano extended the River Bandits lead to 3-0 with an RBI fielder's choice, scoring Bregman from third. Laureano advanced to second base on the fielder's choice courtesy of a Kernels throwing error. A Brian Navarreto passed ball with Drew Ferguson hitting moved Laureano to third. Ferguson then drew a walk and stole second, giving Quad Cities runners on second and third. Garrett Stubbs put the River Bandits up 4-0 with a sacrifice fly to center, bringing in Laureano from third. Ryan Bottger extended the Quad Cities lead to 5-0 with a two-out RBI single to center, scoring Ferguson from third.

The Bandits extended their lead to 7-0 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Bregman led off the inning with an infield single to the left side. Two batters later, Laureano singled to left, giving Quad Cities runners on the corners with one out. Laureano then swiped second, his 10th stolen base of the year. Ferguson followed Laureano with a two-run double to center, scoring both Bregman and Laureano.

Quad Cities (15-10, 60-33) tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Boyd started the inning with a one-out single to center. Martin followed Boyd with a double to left, giving the River Bandits runners on second and third. Bregman put Quad Cities in front by eight with an RBI infield single, plating Boyd from third. Laureano made it 9-0 with an RBI single to left, scoring Martin. Ferguson extended the Quad Cities lead to 11-0 with a two-out RBI double to left, bringing in both Bregman and Laureano.

Cedar Rapids (13-12, 54-41) got on the board with a run in the top of the sixth. Tanner English drew a leadoff walk to start the inning. Rafael Valera then reached on an infield single to the left side, giving the Kernels runners on first and second. Two batters later, Zack Larson drove in English with an RBI single to left, cutting the Quad Cities lead to 11-1. The RBI for Larson was his team-leading 42nd of the year.

Ryan Bottger's leadoff home run in the bottom of the sixth made it 12-1 in favor of Quad Cities. The home run was the fifth of the year for Bottger.

The Kernels cut the River Bandits lead to eight with three runs in the top of the seventh. Austin Diemer led off the inning with a triple to left-center. The triple was Diemer's first Midwest League hit in just his second Midwest League game. Navarreto brought in the Kernels first run of the inning with an RBI groundout to the left side, scoring Diemer from third. Two batters later Sean Miller doubled to left. A River Bandits fielding error allowed Miller to score from second and allowed English to reach base. Valera then reached base on the second straight Quad Cities error of the inning, giving Cedar Rapids runners on the corners. A Jorge Perez wild pitch brought in English from third, cutting the River Bandits 12-4.

Quad Cities added two more in the bottom of the eighth, extending their lead to 10. Stubbs drew a leadoff walk to begin the frame. Bottger then reached on a Kernels fielding error, giving the River Bandits runners on second and third. A second straight Kernels fielding error scored Stubbs from third, giving the River Bandits runners on first and second. Two batters later, Martin grounded into an RBI fielder's choice, extending the River Bandits lead to 14-4.

Tanner English's one-out solo home run in the top of the ninth cut the River Bandits lead to 14-5. The home run was the third of the year for English.

Edgar Corcino and Miller led the Kernels with two hits each. Corcino went 2-for-4 with two singles and a walk while Miller finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Keaton Steele (2-3) suffered the loss for Cedar Rapids. The right-hander allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out in 2 1/3 innings.

Jared Wilson allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out one in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Michael Theofanopoulos allowed four runs on five hits in an inning out of the bullpen. Cam Booser yielded one run on two hits and struck out one in one inning in relief.

Eric Peterson (5-4) earned the win for Quad Cities. The right-hander allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out one in 2 2/3 innings of relief.

Elieser Hernandez retired the first eight hitters he faced and tossed four shutout innings in his first Midwest League start. The right-hander yielded two hits and a walk and struck out six.

The Kernels return home vs. the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers tomorrow for the start of a six-game homestand. First pitch in the series opener is at 6:35 p.m. from Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. RHP Felix Jorge (4-3, 2.06) gets the start for Cedar Rapids while LHP David Carter (0-0, 0.00) counters for Wisconsin.
