GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings have assigned left wing Mattias Ritola to the Grand Rapids Griffins, who on Thursday released left wing Trent Daavettila.
Ritola, 22, has logged five games over two stints with the parent club this season, showing an average ice time of 11:41, nine shots and an even rating. A native of Borlange, Sweden, Ritola currently ranks among the Griffins' leaders with eight goals (T4th) and 15 points (T10th) through 32 games. He will return to the lineup this Friday when Grand Rapids visits the Rochester Americans at 7:05 p.m.
Daavettila, 25, appeared in two games with the Griffins, tallying his first AHL goal during his Grand Rapids debut (a 7-2 loss to Lake Erie) on Sunday.
