January 7, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Knighthawks and Rochester Americans will get to raise the Cups early this season. The teams won't have to wait until the conclusion of their seasons due to the "Labatt Blue Light Saturday Night" commemorative cup program.
Now every Saturday night, the Amerks and Knighthawks will have a chance to raise commemorative cups, courtesy of a partnership with Labatt USA. Beginning on Saturday, January 9th, fans will receive a cup with the purchase of a 16-ounce Labatt Blue or Blue Light draft at The Blue Cross Arena. The Amerks cup will feature alternate captain Chris Taylor, while the Knighthawks cup will include Knighthawks goalie Pat O'Toole.
"We are very excited to be teaming with North American Breweries and a well established brand like Labatt on the commemorative cup series initiative," said Amerks and Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "The partnership and promotion allows us to brand both the Amerks and Knighthawks players in the marketplace while providing our fans with a keepsake from their game night experience."
The Saturday night series kicks off on January 9th at the 2:05 p.m. American Hockey League game between the Amerks and Lake Erie Monsters. Later that night, the Knighthawks open their 2010 season against the Buffalo Bandits at 8:05 p.m. The Amerks have four Saturday home games in the second half of the season, while the Knighthawks play all eight of their home games on Saturday night.
"We are excited to announce our partnership with the Rochester Americans and Rochester Knighthawks through our commemorative cup series," said Matt Goldman, Customer & Field Marketing Manager East for Labatt USA. "Like everyone in Rochester, we are pleased to see the turnaround the organization has made this season and will continue to support the teams as they strive to bring championships back to Rochester."
