Hurricanes Recall Samson From Albany

RALEIGH, NC - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Jerome Samson (jeh-ROHM SAM-sohn) from the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League (AHL).

This marks the first career NHL recall for Samson, 22, who is in his third professional season after signing with Carolina as an undrafted free agent on July 2, 2007. The Greenfield Park, Que., native leads Albany this season in goals (13), assists (17) and points (30), while playing in all 38 of the team's games. Samson (6'0", 195 lbs.) has totaled 56 goals and 67 assists (123 points) in 173 career AHL regular-season games, all with the River Rats.

The River Rats welcome a pair of Atlantic Division clubs to the Times Union Center this weekend, beginning on Friday with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff against the division-leading Manchester Monarchs.
