Rippers Throw Second Straight Shutout

LONDON, ONTARIO - Make it a half-dozen for the London Rippers (9-10).

In a game that had everything, Justin Mazur (1-1) went 6 scoreless innings, leading the Rippers to a 4-0 win over Joliet, increasing their winning streak to six games.

The contest featured four wild pitches, a balk and another balk, which was overturned.

Already up 1-0, JC Paquin scored a run in the 4th when he singled and moved to second on a wild pick-off by Slammers' starter, Eric Binder (2-1). He got to third on a balk, then, scored on a wild pitch.

The Rippers scored another wild run in the 5th . Tony Delmonico got on base by earning a lead-off walk. He stole second base and scored on two wild pitches.

The second wild pitch by Joliet was on an intentional walk to Mark Samuelson. The catcher came out of his crouch to catch Ball 1, but Binder threw the ball right down the middle and all the way to the backstop.

Stephen Cardullo led off the 6th with his first homer of the year, putting London up 4-0.

Andrew Chilcoat threw two hitless innings in relief and David Francis closed out the 9th .

The Rippers have only allowed 3 hits in the last two games and have thrown shutouts in back-to-back games and three of their last four.

London continues their series with Joliet tomorrow night at 7:00pm.

Jamie Richmond (2-1 3.33) will toe the rubber in the middle game of the series for London against Tommy Mendoza (2-1 2.84).
