RiverHawks Make Roster Moves

LOVES PARK, Ill. - The RiverHawks released pitcher Jordan Stern and catcher Elliot Hagburg, signed outfielder Steve Anderson and pitcher Kyle Schepel and placed pitcher Garrett Granitz on the seven-day disabled list.

Stern, a right-hander who has been a bullpen arm for the RiverHawks was released after five relief appearances. The pitcher had recorded one win and an 8.10 ERA through 13.1 innings pitched.

Hagburg, a rookie catcher from Hofstra University appeared in seven games and was hitting .158 in just 19 at bats.

Anderson, a rookie from Grand Valley State University, joins the team after hitting .373 for the Lakers with six home runs and 57 RBIs. Following his senior season this past Spring, Anderson was named the "Daktronics Baseball All-Midwest Region Player of the Year". He was also named the "Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Year".

Schepel, a rookie pitcher from Grand Rapids, Mich., was a teammate of Anderson's at Grand Valley State. Schepel started 45 games and appeared in 54 over his career with the Lakers. With a career record of 31-7, Schepel holds the all-time career wins record at Grand Valley State. He broke the record on March 31, 2012, when he recorded his 27th victory by beating Ashland University.
