Rippers Release Three, Sign Three

LONDON, ONTARIO - The London Rippers have shuffled their roster by releasing three players and signing three others.

London has let go of outfielder, Clifton Thomas, outfielder, David Christensen and lefthanded pitcher, Eric Katzman.

Thomas possessed a .188 batting average in 22 games with the Rippers. He had a homer and 5 RBIs, scoring 26 runs and stealing 10 bases.

Christensen leaves with a .250 average. He swatted 9 home runs and drove in 29 in his time in London.

Katzman made 12 appearances with the Rippers, starting 8 games and sporting a 2-5 record with a 6.43 ERA. He struck out 30 in 42 innings and walked 35.

To fill the roster, London signed outfielder, Wesley Jones, outfielder, Chris Lloyd and catcher, David Roney.

Jones graduated from Milligan College with a .340 batting average and a .980 fielding percentage. He possesses school records for stolen bases, runs scored and career doubles.

Lloyd, who lives in Long Beach, California, attended California State University Los Angeles and owned a .384 average, 8th in the CCAA.

Roney, a Scottsdale Arizona native, played four years at Wofford College, where he finished with a .261 average, 11 home runs and 59 RBIs.

The Rippers start a six-game road trip tonight in Normal, Illinois before returning for a six-game home stand, opening July 25th .

That date is also " Bark in the Park Night " at Labatt Park. Bring your dog and they get in free. Part of the proceeds goes to the London Humane Society.
