
Righty Jackson Added to Goldeyes Pitching Staff

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of right-handed pitcher Matt Jackson to a contract.
Jackson, 25, was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 31st round of the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft and played five seasons in their system, reaching Triple-A in 2012. In 20 games, including 17 starts, at Advanced-A, Double-A and Triple-A this season, the product of Fort Wayne, Ind. went 6-5 with a 6.11 ERA. Last year at Triple-A Tuscon of the Pacific Coast League, he went 2-0 and didn't allow a run in two starts and 2-1 with a 3.73 ERA in seven starts at Double-A San Antonio of the Texas League.
Jackson is slated to start the second game of tonight's doubleheader against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
The Goldeyes now have 21 players on their active roster, including 11 pitchers and 10 position players.
Tonight's doubleheader begins at 6 p.m. Both games are scheduled to be seven innings.
