Riders Take Pitchers' Duel in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders were held to just one hit on Tuesday from Nelson Wolff Stadium, but still downed the San Antonio Missions 1-0.

With the score tied in the seventh, the Riders (8-4) loaded the bases. With two outs in the inning, San Antonio (6-7) pitcher Henry Henry uncorked a wild pitch, allowing Diosbel Arias to score and give Frisco a 1-0 lead. Arias had Frisco's only hit on the night.

In their second shutout of the season, Frisco turned to five pitchers. Hans Crouse made his Riders debut in the start, tossing one inning before Jake Latz went 4.2 frames, allowing just two hits while striking out six and walking one. Blake Bass (1-0) was the Riders winning pitcher despite just recording one out and A.J. Alexy and Cole Uvila combined to allow just three hits over the last three innings. Uvila earned his second save on the season in the win.

Sam Williams (1-1) took the loss for San Antonio, allowing Arias to reach in the seventh before he was taken out.

The RoughRiders continue their six-game series with San Antonio on Wednesday, May 19 with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch. RHP Tyler Phillips (1-0, 1.00) will start for the Riders while San Antonio will send Osvaldo Hernandez (0-0, 5.14) to the mound.
