Riders Select Shomari Williams with First Overall Pick

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pleased to announce they have selected Queen's linebacker Shomari Williams with their first overall pick in today's CFL Canadian Draft.

Williams transferred to Queen's University in 2009 and was a key member of the Vanier Cup winning Golden Gaels. The 25-year old registered 32 tackles and four sacks, along with 8.5 tackles for losses in six regular-season games. He became a force in the playoffs, recording 26 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for losses in four post-season contests.

Williams dressed in 27 games for the University of Houston where he spent three seasons. He finished his time at Houston with 22 defensive tackles, two tackles for a loss and a quarterback sack.
