Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal, May 2, 2010 - The Montreal Alouettes have selected Quebec-born offensive lineman Kristian Matte of the Concordia University Stingers with their first pick in the first round, seventh overall, of the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft. He becomes the second-consecutive offensive lineman to be selected in the first round by the Alouettes following Dylan Steenbergen in 2009.

"This is a proud day for the Alouettes to be able to select not only one of the best players in the draft this year, but a born-and-raised hometown product," said Montreal Alouettes' Vice President and General Manager Jim Popp.

Matte (6'4'', 296 lbs) played four seasons with the Stingers, playing eight games in 2009 and being named a CIS second-team All-Star and a Quebec Conference All-Star.
