Saskatchewan Roughriders News Release
The Saskatchewan Roughriders pulled off some draft day magic announcing a blockbuster trade during this morning's Canadian CFL College Draft. Rider Head Coach Danny Barrett announced during the CFL's draft via conference call that Saskatchewan has picked up All-Star receiver Travis Moore and Non-import linebacker Chris Hoople from the Calgary Stampeders in return for the Roughriders 1st round (5th overall pick) in today's 2003 Canadian CFL College Draft.
Travis Moore has spent his entire eight-year CFL career with the Calgary Stampeders. Moore has picked up 473 catches for 7,536 yards and 57 touchdowns during 113 regular season games. The 32-year old has also picked up nine catches for 164 yards and one touchdown in three Grey Cup's, taking home two championship rings. Moore has been named to the Western Division All-Star team and the All-Canadian squad three times in his career.
Chris Hoople is entering his fifth season in the CFL. The 26-year old spent last year in Calgary after spending his first three years in Montreal. The UBC grad led the Stampeders and was third in the CFL with 22 special teams tackles last season.
"Adding Travis gives us an instant âgo-to-guy' that can make plays and guide the younger receivers," stated head coach Danny Barrett. "As for Chris Hoople, he gives us stability at the Canadian spot and is a proven special teams player who can come in and get the job done."
