Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA - On a busy and eventful day during the 2003 CFL Canadian College Draft, the Ottawa Renegades picked six players and built for the future as the team prepares for its second season in the Canadian Football League.
The Renegades selected offensive tackle Trevor Kine (6-6, 274, New Mexico State) of Vancouver with the team's first pick of the draft, the fourth selection of the second round (13th overall).
The Renegades followed with back-to-back selections later in the second round after the team acquired the 17th overall pick from the Edmonton Eskimos in exchange for the rights to wide receiver Brock Ralph, a native of Raymond, Alberta. The receiver from the University of Wyoming was a Renegades' second-round pick (13th overall) during the 2002 draft.
Picking 16th overall, Ottawa chose defensive end Louis Hobson, a Toronto native (6-4, 255, Stanford University).
With the 17th overall selection acquired from the Eskimos, Ottawa picked defensive tackle Israel Idonije, a native of Nigeria who lives in Brandon, Manitoba. Idonije (6-7, 285, University of Manitoba) was the 2002 recipient of the J.P. Metras Award as the top lineman in Canadian university football.
With the first pick of the fourth round (19th overall), the Renegades chose defensive tackle Patrick Kabongo (6-6, 320, University of Nebraska) of Montreal.
Ottawa completed the draft with the 36th and 45th picks. The Renegades chose guard Marc Parenteau (6-5, 308, Boston College), a native of Magog, Quebec, with the 36th pick. Parenteau was named to the 2002 All-Big East Conference first team all-star squad. Linebacker Todd Seely (6-2, 230, University of Ottawa) was named as the 45th pick. Seely, a native of Grande Prairie, Alberta, had 47 tackles, three sacks and was named to the second-team all-star football squad of Ontario University Athletics for the 2002 season.
