Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, came up short Tuesday night, falling 5-3 to the Midland RockHounds in the series finale at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
The Riders (23-8) trailed 3-0 after Midland (19-13) scored three runs in the third inning. Frisco rallied for two unearned runs against Midland starter Raul Alcantara (3-1). Kellin Deglan hit an RBI triple, his first three-bagger of the season, which drove in Alberto Triunfel. Deglan scored the second run of the frame on Ryan Cordell's RBI single to center field.
The two-run fifth was followed by a 33-minute rain delay. Following the stoppage in play, Midland's Yairo Munoz hit a solo home run on the first pitch he saw from reliever Reed Garrett to put Midland up, 4-2. Frisco only recorded two more hits for the remainder of the game. Ryan Gorton, Andres Avila, and Jake Sanchez combined to limit the Riders to just a run in four innings, with Sanchez picking up his first save of the season.
Joe Jackson went 3-for-4 at the plate in Tuesday's loss, while Deglan finished 2-for-3.
The Riders have an off-day Wednesday as they travel to Corpus Christi to begin a series against the Hooks Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Connor Sadzeck (4-0, 2.60 ERA) will make the start for Frisco against Cy Sneed (1-1, 4.34 ERA). Live coverage can be heard on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, on the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App. Dr Pepper Pregame Show coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.
The Riders return home on Friday, May 20 to host the San Antonio Missions. The homestand begins with Magic Night, featuring Michael Grandinetti. The series continues Saturday with Military Appreciation Night, which includes a free military-themed Riders t-shirt giveaway for the first 1,500 fans.
