Hot Start Doesn't Hold as Naturals Fall in Finale, 5-4

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - When it comes down to it, the goal is to a win a series. The Naturals did that, winning the first three games of the four-game series against the Arkansas Travelers; but the finale went the way of the home team on Tuesday night as Northwest Arkansas dropped the series finale, 5-4 to the Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park.

Northwest Arkansas (16-15) plated four runs through the first three innings and had Travelers' starter, Troy Scribner (2-1, 5.06) on the ropes. Ryan O'Hearn's RBI single in the first inning started the offense while Ramon Torres singled home the second run in the following inning. Cam Gallagher plated two more tallies for the Naturals in the third inning off Scribner to extend the advantage to 4-0.

Left-hander, Mike Minor, got the start for Northwest Arkansas, making his first rehab start of the season. The southpaw struck out four batters through his first two innings; but could not make it through the third. Minor did not factor in the decision allowing three runs, two earned on one hits with four strikeouts and four walks over 2.2 innings of work.

Southpaw, Eric Stout entered to the get the final out in the third frame and worked 3.1 innings of two-run baseball with three strikeouts on the night. Stout (1-2, 3.06) retired the first three batters he faced on the night and is hung with his second loss of the season.

With the loss, the Naturals' snapped their five-game winning streak and seven-game road winning streak - both the longest stretches of victories on the season.

The Naturals will enjoy an off-day tomorrow before hitting the road on Thursday, May 14 to begin the final leg of the eight-game road trip with a four-game series against the Springfield Cardinals. Right-hander Alec Mills (1-1, 2.76) will take the ball for the Naturals in game one of the series.
