Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS (JUNE 12, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders jumped ahead early on "Salute To Full House Night" to defeat the San Antonio Missions, 7-3, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 11,927 fans on Friday night at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Nomar Mazara knocked in a season-high four Riders and Drew Robinson hit his Texas League-leading 12th homerun as Frisco won their third straight game.
The Riders (26-34) put six runs on the board between the third and fourth frames to jump out to a healthy 7-0 lead over the Missions (26-33). Nick Williams notched his second-straight four hit night and Frisco starter Jake Thompson (6-4) picked up his sixth win. Thompson allowed three runs and struck out six as he worked into the seventh inning for his third consecutive start.
The Riders got off to an early 1-0 lead with an RBI-single from Mazara to score Patrick Cantwell in the first inning.
Robinson started a three-run third with a solo-homerun, his fourth blast in his last nine games. With one out, Mazara laced a triple into right field to score Williams and then scored on Trever Adams' base knock to make it 4-0 RoughRiders.
Frisco plated another three runs in the fourth inning thanks to a crucial two-out error by third baseman Casey McElroy. The mishap allowed Luis Mendez to cross the plate and Mazara gave the Riders a 7-0 lead with a two-run single scoring Robinson and Cantwell for his third and fourth RBIs of the night.
Missions starter Bryan Rodriguez (3-8) took the loss and dropped to 1-2 against Frisco this season. The right-hander allowed seven runs, four earned, 12 hits and three walks over five innings.
San Antonio found the scoreboard with three runs in the seventh inning. Travis Jankowski's RBI single knocked Thompson from the game, and Jesus Pirela induced a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat. Pirela allowed one hit over 1 2/3 innings before Will Lamb finished off the Missions 7-3.
Frisco heads on the road for an eight-game trip through Midland and Corpus Christi. Frisco sends LHP Chad Bell to the mound Saturday night to face the RockHounds and RHP Jonathon Joseph at 7:05. The RoughRiders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on June 21 to face the Midland RockHounds.
