Riders Complete Sweep of Missions

San Antonio Missions News Release


FRISCO - The Roughriders completed their first four-game home sweep of the Missions in 10 years Thursday night at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

Frisco erased deficits of 2-1 and 4-2 to improve to 15-4. It's the best 19-game start in the Texas League by any team since the 2008 'Riders won 15 of their first 19 contests.

Fabio Castillo allowed a season-high six runs along with a pair of homers, to fall to 2-3. Missions starting pitchers have a 7.27 ERA over the club's last 8 games.

San Antonio outhit Frisco, 10-8. It marked only the fourth time in 20 games that the team collected as many as 10 hits.

The Missions were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position, stranding six runners at second or third base.

The loss dropped them to a season-high four games under .500 (8-12) and 7 1/2 games back of first-place Frisco.

NOTES: Jose Rondon's hitting streak reached 10 games. He's one of four players in the league this year with a streak of at least 10...Catcher Rocky Gale was sent to Triple-A El Paso to replace former Mission Austin Hedges, who will be out for an extended period following surgery to repair a broken hamate bone in his hand. Ricardo Valenzuela joined the Missions to replace Gale.
