Missions End Losing Streak with 5-2 Win

MIDLAND - The Missions snapped a six-game losing streak Sunday afternoon and won at Security Bank Ballpark for only the seventh time in the last 27 games.

Luis Diaz worked a solid 7.1 innings before turning the ball over to Adam Cimber, who registered a five-out save but not before having to face the tying run at the plate before recording the final out.

Yeison Asencio slugged a two-run homer, his first of the season, and Jose Rondon led an 11-hit attack with three singles.

The Missions outhit the Rockhounds. It was only the seventh time in 23 games that they outhit the opponent.

Diaz bounced back from two straight bad outings by allowing only eight hits and five runs over 13.1 innings in his two starts on the current roadtrip. He improved to 2-2 on the season.

NOTES: OF Alberth Martinez was diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. Martinez was hurt running the bases last week at Wolff Stadium...The Missions have collected at least 10 hits in three of the last four games after doing so only three times in the first 19 games.
