
RHP Steve Smith Rejoins Isotopes

Right-handed pitcher Steve Smith rejoined the Albuquerque Isotopes this morning, and in a corresponding move, catcher Johnny Monell was placed on the disabled list with a strained left calf.
Smith is expected to start the first game of today's doubleheader. He has pitched in 18 games, starting four, with a 7.54 ERA for the Isotopes this season. Smith is 1-4 on the season and has struck out 29 batters and walked only 18 in 51.1 innings of work.
Monell has batted .267 in 26 games with Albuquerque this season. He has seven doubles, one triple and two homers. The 28-year-old backstop has also driven in 14 runs and scored seven.
Game times for today's split doubleheader are set for 12:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. Both games will be seven-inning contests and separate tickets are required for each game. Free parking will be available for the 12:05 p.m. game. Post-game fireworks presented by Cricket Wireless (weather permitting) will also follow tonight's game.
