RHP Alan Horne Placed on the Disabled List

(Binghamton, NY)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Alan Horne has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to May 13th. Horne left his start on May 13th vs. Portland with a hamstring injury.

Horne was 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA in three starts for the Thunder. He was promoted from Tampa (High-A) to Trenton on April 30th. Horne had been recovering from off-season shoulder surgery at the Yankees Minor League Complex in Tampa, Florida. In 2008, Horne split the season between Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A) and Tampa appearing in 11 combined games going 2-4 with an ERA of 8.76.

In 2007, Horne had a career year, going 12-4 with a 3.11 ERA in 27 starts for Trenton. The Marianna, Florida native was also named the Eastern League "Pitcher of the Year" following the season. Horne was originally selected by the Yankees in the 11th round of the 2005 draft out of the University of Florida.

Trenton and Binghamton continue their five-game series on Friday night. RHP Zach McAllister (1-1, 2.67) will start for Trenton against Binghamton RHP Jose Sanchez (1-3, 6.23) Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.

Trenton will return to Waterfront Park on Tuesday night to start a three-game series against the Akron Aeros (Double-A Affiliate of the Cleveland Indians). The series will be a re-match of the 2007 and 2008 Eastern League
