ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...
Tonight, the SeaWolves continue a four-day road trip as they take on the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles) in doubleheader action at Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox ended Erie's longest winning streak of the season last night with a 6-1 win over the Howlers. The âWolves jumped ahead in the top of the first but failed on several scoring opportunities as the Baysox scored six unanswered for the win. The loss dropped the âWolves to 3.5 games behind first place Akron in the EL South. While the âWolves are tied for the best home record in the EL, their road record now sits at .500 (6-6). Erie and Akron are still the only teams in the league with 20 or more wins on the season...Righty Jonah Nickerson takes the mound for Erie in game one. Nickerson picked up his first win of the season his last time out against the Baysox. In the game, he went six innings, tying a season-high, allowing three runs on eight hits with two walks and a season-high six strikeouts. Tonight is Nickerson's seventh start and fourth against Bowie. All of his starts have been against Bowie and Altoona. Erie is 2-0 in the last two games started by Nickerson and 3-3 overall in games he has started...Lefty Ramon Garcia makes takes the mound for Erie in game two, making a spot start. It will be Garcia's 10th appearance and second start. He picked up his first save in his last outing against Reading on May 11 going 1.1 innings, allowing a run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts. His first start came in game two of a doubleheader on May 7 at Harrisburg. He went three shutout innings, allowing a hit with a walk and two strikeouts in that game.
