York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution made a late push, but came up short in their comeback bid losing to the Camden Riversharks 6-5 at Campbell's Field on Thursday evening. The Revs will look to even the series on Friday night before the two teams head to York to continue the home-and-home set on Saturday at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

Down 6-3 heading into the ninth, Michael Hernandez worked a leadoff walk against Sharks closer John Lujan, and scored when James Shanks followed with a double to deep left. Shanks advanced to third on a throwing error at the plate by shortstop Jake Eigsti, and scored on Travis Scott's single into left-center, bringing the Revs within one run. Kyle Haines sacrificed Scott ahead to second with the top of the order to follow, but Lujan retired Brandon Haveman on a groundout, and after walking Scott Grimes, struck out Ramon Castro to end the game and record an adventurous league-leading 15th save.

Camden erased a York lead with three runs in the third and two more in the fourth, and thanks to perfect setup relief, was able to make the lead stand. Leo Rosales, Josh Walter, and Zach Hammes all tossed 1-2-3 innings in the sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively, helping to preserve the lead for starter Ricky Brooks (6-1), who earned the win allowing just three runs in five innings.

York struck first in the game when Castro blasted a solo homer to deep left with two outs in the top of the first. It was his 11th home run of the season, moving him into a three-way tie with Chris Nowak and Andres Perez for the team lead, while he also picked up his league-leading 50th RBI of the season's first half.

Camden tied the score on a sacrifice fly to left by Pedro Feliz in the bottom of the first, but after facing a bases loaded jam, Revs starter Chris Waters held Camden to only one by recording an inning-ending double play off the bat of Alvin Colina.

York went ahead 3-1 in the third when Grimes and Castro led off with singles, Perez followed with an RBI single to right-center extending his hitting streak to 12 consecutive games, and another run scored on a double play grounder.

The Sharks batted around in the bottom of the third to take the lead for good, however, scoring three unearned runs on a sacrifice fly by Raul Padron, a two-out RBI double by Colina and a two-out RBI single from Steve Doetsch. Reliever Yunior Novoa struck out Chris Walker looking to end the inning with the bases loaded, keeping the deficit just 4-3 at the time, but the Sharks added two more an inning later on Feliz' second sac fly of the game, and an RBI single by Colina.

Waters (1-2) suffered the loss for the Revs, charged with four runs (one earned) in 2.2 innings of work.

Novoa totaled 3.1 innings of relief, charged with two runs. His final two innings were scoreless.

Wade Korpi tossed a pair of scoreless innings out of the York bullpen, keeping the deficit manageable and giving the Revs a shot at the comeback.
