(Bridgeport, Conn. - July 5, 2012) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that seven members of the team have been selected to participate in the 2012 Atlantic League All-Star Game. This is the highest number of Bluefish players selected to an All-Star game since seven team members participated in the 2008 mid-summer contest. Pitchers Paul Oseguera and Rommie Lewis will be joined by infielders Brock Peterson and Luis Lopez, outfielders Kennard Jones and Prentice Redman, and catcher Luis Rodriguez on the Liberty Division squad.

"We are very pleased to have these seven players represent the Bluefish during the 2012 Atlantic League All-Star Game," says Bluefish general manager Bob Goughan. "They have been key members of our team during the first half of the season and are deserving of this accomplishment."

Peterson has developed into Bridgeport's biggest offensive power threat in his second year in the Atlantic League. The slugger leads the league with 15 home runs, ranks second with 45 runs scored, 33 extra-base hits, and a .558 slugging percentage, and third with 125 total bases. He has recorded a .268 batting average on the year and paces the Bluefish with 43 RBI. He is batting .277 with five home runs and 35 RBI, and ranks second in the Atlantic League with 45 walks.

Jones has impressed during his first tour in the Park City. He leads the team in batting average (.284), hits (69), stolen bases (15) and at-bats (243). Redman, in his second season with the ball club, is hitting .256 with seven home runs, 32 RBI, and 30 runs scored, while raking fifth in the league in doubles (17). Rodriguez makes his second Atlantic League All-Star team in the past three years after posting a .271 batting average with three home runs and 16 RBI.

Oseguera and Lewis have been the top contributors for the Bluefish pitching staff in the starting rotation and bullpen, respectively. In his third season in the Park City, Oseguera is 5-2 in 12 starts and ranks second in the league with 68 strikeouts and third with a 2.82 ERA. Lewis, during his first year in the Atlantic League, owns a 3-1 record with a sparkling 1.86 ERA and 21 punchouts over the course of 29 innings of work.
