Lancaster Stormers News Release

J.D. Durbin turned the tables on the Long Island Ducks Thursday evening.

After dropping a 3-0 decision despite going the distance the last time he faced the Ducks, he reversed the score with a complete-game, 3-0 victory over Long Island in the opener of a four-game weekend series at Clipper Magazine Stadium.

Durbin (4-6) limited the Ducks to six hits while walking two and striking out five. The right-hander had two runners on behind him for only one batter in the game and had only two Long Island baserunners get to scoring position the entire night. The Lancaster defense turned three 6-4-3 double plays in the game.

One of those double plays came in the third inning following a leadoff single to right by Dan Lyons. Following the double play grounder off the bat of rookie Matt Fleishman, Durbin walked Kraig Binick and yielded a single to center by James McOwen. He put away perennial All-Star Ray Navarrete on a routine fly to center to close out the threat.

Long Island's only extra-base hit of the night was a one-out double to the alley in left center by Lyons in the sixth.

Lancaster's offense proved to be enough.

The Barnstormers posted a quick run in the first. Blake Gailen opened the inning with a walk from Jason Monti (5-4) and scooted to third on Fehlandt Lentini's base hit to left center. Terry Tiffee produced the run with a sacrifice fly to center.

In the second, Jaime Pedroza doubled to right leading off. One out later, Emerson Frostad boomed a double to the right of dead center, crossing up the defense that was playing him to the opposite field, as the Barnstormers went up 2-0.

A single by Tiffee, double off the right field wall by Tommy Everidge, and single by Pedroza combined to bring home Lancaster's third run of the evening. Pedroza finished the night 3-for-4, adding a second double in the eighth inning.

The series will continue on Friday evening at 7:00 pm with right-hander Dwayne Pollok (4-0) taking the mound for Lancaster against Long Island lefty Dan Meyer (2-4). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; 1600-AM, WPDC; 1390wlan.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app.
