Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, N.J.- Six members of the Camden Riversharks have been named to the 2012 Atlantic League All-Star roster, the league announced today. They will join the Liberty Division team on Wednesday, July 11 at Campbell's Field.
The selections were made based on fan voting, as well as media votes and manager votes from each of the league's eight teams.
"We are honored to be hosting this year's All-Star Game and proud that six of our players will be able to showcase their talent at home in this prestigious event," said General Manager Adam Lorber.
Power hitters Brian Burgamy and Eduardo Perez along with shortstop Jake Eigsti, outfielder Chris Walker and pitchers Ricky Brooks and Zach Hammes will represent the Riversharks in the mid-summer classic.
Burgamy is currently leading the Riversharks in all Triple Crown statistics with a .326 BA, eight homeruns, and 44 RBIs. This will be his second appearance in the Atlantic League All-Star Game. His first was in 2010.
Perez has proved to be a versatile player this season spending time at third base, in the outfield and as the designated hitter. He is second on the team in RBIs (35) and is batting .267.
Eigsti is third on the team with homeruns and RBIs. This is his second year on the team and his first Atlantic League All-Star appearance. Eigsti was a Frontier League All-Star in 2011 before joining Camden in September.
Walker, the Riversharks leadoff hitter, leads the team with 17 stolen bases; good for fourth overall in the league. He had a monster June, hitting .305 with five home runs during the month. He is tied for the league lead in triples with four on the season. He has also been a solid outfielder for Camden, yet to make an error this season.
Joining the Liberty Division's pitching rotation is starting pitcher Ricky Brooks and reliever Zach Hammes. Brooks is tied for first on the team with wins (5) and second in ERA (2.12). Hammes has pitched strong out of the bullpen with a 3.56 ERA and has struck out 25 batters in 30.1 innings pitched.
The 2012 Atlantic League All-Star Game, presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, is Wednesday, July 11 at 7:05 p.m at Campbell's Field.
