York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution piled up 15 hits en route to an 8-3 victory over the Camden Riversharks on Thursday evening at Campbell's Field. The Revs have won back-to-back contests, claiming a series victory in South Jersey, and will continue their road trip to Sugar Land on Friday night.
The 15 hits set a season-high for the Revs offense, as did their eight runs scored. Andres Perez led the way, going 4-for-5 while driving in three runs. It marked the first four-hit game by a Revs batter this season.
York jumped in front in the top of the second. The Revs set the table as Brandon Boggs and Perez singled, and Johan Limonta drew a walk to load the bases with no outs. Then with one out, Salvador Paniagua jumped on the first pitch and roped a two-run single to left, spotting the Revs a 2-0 lead.
Revs starter Anthony Lerew (2-1) kept it that way, working five shutout innings to earn the win. The righty received defensive help in the second, as Boggs hosed Nathaniel Coronado from center field trying to score on Stephen Bull's base hit. Then with two on and two out in the fifth, Lerew took matters into his own hands, picking off Brandon Chaves at second base to end the inning and conclude a solid night on the mound.
The Revs extended their lead to 4-0 in the sixth. Bryan Pounds led off the frame with a double to left, and with one out, scored on a single to center by Perez. Brandon Jones later added an RBI fielder's choice.
Perez contributed another RBI single in the top of the eighth as the lead grew to 5-0.
Camden broke up the shutout on a two-out RBI single to right by Carlos Guzman in their half of the eighth inning.
York posted one final exclamation mark in the ninth, scoring three times in the inning. The Revs tied season highs with five hits in one inning, as well as four consecutive hits at one point. Boggs launched a two-run double to deep right-center, and Perez laced an RBI double to left to punctuate his monstrous night at the dish.
Camden scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth on RBI singles by Bull and Dan Hennigan to provide the final margin.
In addition to Perez' four-hit game, the Revs received three-hit performances from leadoff man Mikey Reynolds and Limonta. Both players went 3-for-4, while Reynolds stole two bases. The three-hit night extends Reynolds' hitting streak to nine consecutive games, and gives him six multi-hit games on the streak.
Sharks starter Wes Torrez (1-1) took the loss, saddled with four runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings.
