York Revolution News Release

A two-out double by Prentice Redman in the bottom of the eighth inning spoiled a superb effort from starter Alain Quijano, as the York Revolution dropped the opening game of their eight-game road trip 2-1 on Tuesday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. The game was played in two hours and two minutes, the quickest nine inning game in Revs history.

Redman drove in both runs for the Bluefish, as he also connected on a solo homer to left-center, his first of the year, in the bottom of the first inning. That home run gave the Bluefish a 1-0 lead that they would maintain into the seventh inning.

Bridgeport starter Hunter Jones allowed just two hits through the first six innings before the Revs finally got on the board in the seventh. Eric Patterson cranked a one-out triple to deep right-center, his league-leading fifth triple of the year. With two outs, Ofilio Castro punched a game-tying single to center, bringing Patterson home to make it a 1-1 score.

Austin Gallagher led off the bottom of the eighth with a double to right, setting the table for Bridgeport's go-ahead tally. With two outs, Redman ripped the RBI double to left, scoring pinch-runner Mike Richard with the decisive run.

Quijano (5-4) suffered the loss, charged with two runs on six hits in a season-high 7.2 innings. He walked one and struck out five.

Jones (3-4) picked up the win, allowing one run on four hits in eight innings of work. He walked none and struck out seven, throwing just 88 pitches, 66 for strikes. The lefty retired his first eight of the game and faced one over the minimum through the first six innings.

Winston Abreu notched an eventful 11th save in the ninth inning. Wilson Valdez singled up the middle with one out to extend his hitting streak to eight consecutive games, stole his league-leading 22nd base and took third on a throwing error by catcher Luis Rodriguez. Abreu came back to record a pop out for the second out, and then retired Johan Limonta on a rocket back to the mound that Abreu knocked down before throwing to first for the final out of the game.

Notes: The game was six minutes quicker than the previous shortest nine inning game in Revs history, a two-hour and eight-minute contest against Newark on July 1, 2007. Of the 15 runs allowed by the Revs over the last three games, 12 have scored with two outs. Quijano retired 13 consecutive batters after Redman's first inning home run, one short of matching the longest streak by a Revs pitcher this season. Quijano has now allowed just two runs in 14.2 innings in two starts at Harbor Yard. The loss snaps a four-game road winning streak for the Revs, one short of tying the club record. York lefty Logan Williamson (0-0, 10.80) will face Bridgeport's Kanekoa Texeira (3-1, 3.09) in Wednesday's game at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
