New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution have re-signed John Oliveira (a.k.a. JKO1707) as the club's official eMLS competitor ahead of the 2021 season. Oliveira, a local talent hailing from Oak Bluffs, Mass., is poised to compete in his fourth eMLS campaign after initially joining the Revolution in 2018.
Oliveira, 27, will compete with 26 other players representing Major League Soccer clubs in the quest to be crowned the top EA SPORTS FIFA 21 player in North America. He has represented the Revolution dating back to the inception of eMLS in April 2018, when the inaugural eMLS Cup was held at PAX East in Boston. Last season, Oliveira competed in the second eMLS League Series - traveling to Philadelphia and Portland, Ore. - for League Series One and Two, respectively, before the subsequent postponement of eMLS Cup due to COVID-19.
Coinciding with the suspension in play in MLS this past spring, Oliveira participated in the eMLS Tournament Special with Revolution midfielder Diego Fagundez in a two-legged tie against D.C. United, ultimately falling in the group stage of play. eMLS Cup eventually returned in a completely remote, at-home event, in which Oliveira progressed through the Last Chance Bracket but fell short of the 12th and final playoff spot. He also competed in the USL eCup with Revolution II players Joe Rice and Mayele Malongo, winning his division twice and leading the team to a fifth-place finish in the tournament.
Raised in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, Oliveira was a finalist in numerous FIFA 17 events prior to signing with the Revolution, including a top eight finish in 2017 FIFA Interactive World Cup. The upcoming season will be his fifth season as a professional.
