San Jose Earthquakes News Release
The San Jose Earthquakes made multiple roster announcements last week in preparation for the 2021 MLS season. On Sunday, the Earthquakes acquired $500k of General Allocation Money (GAM) from expansion side Austin FC in exchange for defender Nick Lima. The Quakes also acquired the New England Revolution's natural fourth-round selection in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for the College Player Rights to defender Jon Bell.
Earlier in the week, the club announced that they have enlisted the help of UK-based SIS Pitches to equip Earthquakes Stadium with a new SISGrass hybrid field, one of the most technologically advanced sports surfaces in the world. The field will be installed and maintained by Colony Landscape & Maintenance, Inc., which has proudly served the Bay Area for more than 25 years.

Earthquakes Acquire $500k of Allocation Money in Trade with Austin FC
The San Jose Earthquakes last Sunday acquired $500k of General Allocation Money (GAM) from expansion side Austin FC in exchange for defender Nick Lima. Lima, a product of the Quakes Academy, signed with the Earthquakes as the second Homegrown Player in club history ahead of the 2017 season. He was an MLS Rookie of the Year finalist in 2017 and was named the club's Defensive Player of the Year in 2018. Lima tallied seven goals and seven assists in 100 appearances (94 starts) for San Jose over the last four seasons, while earning nine caps for the U.S. National Team.
Earthquakes Acquire SuperDraft Selection in Trade with New England
The San Jose Earthquakes last Sunday acquired the New England Revolution's natural fourth-round selection in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for the College Player Rights to defender Jon Bell. Bell, 23, was drafted by the Quakes in the second round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft (No. 38 overall) but was not signed. He later joined USL League One club New England Revolution II.
Earthquakes Renew Loan for Oswaldo Alanis
The San Jose Earthquakes last Wednesday last Wednesday announced that the club has renewed the loan for defender Oswaldo Alanis from Mexico's Chivas de Guadalajara for the 2021 season. Alanis, 31, is entering his second season with San Jose. He tallied two goals and one assist in 14 appearances, all starts, in 2020. The Morelia, Mex. native made an immediate impact by scoring a goal and tallying an assist in his MLS debut, later contributing a goal in the team's dramatic 4-3 comeback win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 15.
Four Earthquakes Players Selected to The 25 Greatest
As part of the continued celebration of its 25th season, Major League Soccer last Wednesday announced The 25 Greatest presented by AT&T - honoring the 25 brightest stars in league history. Four of the 25 players selected competed for the San Jose Earthquakes during their career: Jeff Agoos (2001-04), Dwayne De Rosario (2001-05), Landon Donovan (2001-04), and Chris Wondolowski (2005; 2009-Present). Additionally, Steve Ralston was an assistant coach for San Jose from 2015-18, while also serving as interim head coach for the final six matches in 2018.
