Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced it has signed Guillermo "Memo" Treviño to represent the Club throughout the 2021 eMLS season. eMLS is MLS' EA SPORTS FIFA eSports competition. Treviño, who plays under the gamertag "Kid M3mito," took home the eMLS Cup in 2018 while representing Houston Dynamo.
"The Fire are aiming high, both on and off the field, so to be able to represent this historic Club is an honor," said Treviño. "My main goal is to bring the Fire a trophy both domestically during the eMLS season and internationally."
A native of Houston, Treviño went undefeated in the inaugural eMLS Cup tournament, posting a record of 19-0-3. Since entering the competitive FIFA scene, Treviño has qualified for the 2019 FUT Champions Cup, the 2018 FUT Global Series Playoffs qualifier and the 2017 Berlin FUT Championship after placing third in the FUT Regionals.
Treviño, who becomes the Fire's third esports signing in Club history, is set to represent Chicago at three eMLS events in 2021, headlined by eMLS Cup.
The Fire will also return Chicago-based gamer Enrique Espinoza to represent the Club in all local and FIFA 21 Global Series events. Espinoza - also a coach for the Chicago Fire Juniors City youth club - is entering his third season representing the Fire.
"Being able represent my hometown Club has been an honor and I am thankful to return to the Fire for my third season and connect more with the Chicago community," said Espinoza.
In his debut season as an eMLS competitor, Espinoza, who plays under the gamertag "BITW7," earned a top-six finish in the 12-team Eastern Conference and advanced to the knockout stages of the 2019 eMLS Cup competition. Most recently, he finished in sixth place in the 2020 eMLS League Series 2.
