Revolution and Sporting Kansas City Play to 4-4 Draw

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The New England Revolution (2-6-2, 8 pts.) played Sporting Kansas City to a 4-4 draw at Children's Mercy Park on Saturday evening. Forward Juan Fernando Caicedo recorded a first-half brace, while rookie DeJuan Jones opened his professional account in the 69th minute, helping New England secure an away draw despite finishing the match with nine men.

Caicedo's goals in the 18th and 35th minutes were the first two of his MLS career. Forward Juan Agudelo - who was credited with the primary assist on Caicedo's first goal - also opened his 2019 account with a goal in the 42nd minute, marking his first game with a goal and assist since Aug. 4, 2018.

Shortly after defender Brandon Bye was ejected from the match for a second yellow card, rookie DeJuan Jones scored his first professional goal, polishing off a saved penalty kick attempt from Carles Gil. The Revolution's other 2019 MLS SuperDraft selection, Tajon Buchanan, made his first career start and submitted his first career assist on Caicedo's second goal.

New England returns to action on Saturday, May 4, when the club visits the Philadelphia Union at Talen Energy Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

- The Revolution played Sporting Kansas City to a 4-4 on Saturday, setting the club's record at 2-6-2 (8 pts.) through 10 games of the 2019 MLS season.

New England's all-time record against Sporting moves to 18-25-12, including a 7-14-6 mark in games played in Kansas City.

Juan Fernando Caicedo Opens MLS Account with Brace

- Forward Juan Fernando Caicedo opened his MLS account with the game's opening goal in the 18th minute, before adding a second goal in the 35th minute.

- In his debut MLS season, the forward has eight appearances with two starts, two goals, and one assist.

Jones Opens Professional Account with Second-Half Goal

- Midfielder DeJuan Jones scored the first goal of his professional career in the 66th minute, when he cleaned up a rebound after a penalty kick attempt by Carles Gil was saved by Tim Melia.

- Selected by the Revolution with the 11th-overall pick in the 2019 SuperDraft, Jones owns five appearances with four starts, one goal, and one assist on the season.

Agudelo Submits First Goal and Assist of 2019

- Forward Juan Agudelo registered a goal and an assist, first tallying the primary assist on Juan Fernando Caicedo's 18th-minute goal, before scoring himself in the 42nd minute.

- Tonight's match marked the first time Agudelo has recorded a goal and an assist in the same game since Aug. 4, 2018 at Orlando.

- In a full, 90-minute shift, Agudelo registered four shots, three shots on target, one chance created, two tackles, and a foul won.

Buchanan Registers Assist in First Professional Start

- Forward Tajon Buchanan, selected by New England with the ninth-overall selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, made the first start of his MLS career and recorded his first professional assist on Juan Fernando Caicedo's goal in the 35th minute.

- Buchanan recorded one chance created, one tackle, and two fouls won on the evening.

- For the season, the former Syracuse University standout owns four appearances with one start and one assist.

Revolution Starting XI Sees Four Changes

- The Revolution's starting lineup saw four changes from Wednesday's match vs. the Montreal Impact, as Brandon Bye, DeJuan Jones, Tajon Buchanan, and Juan Fernando Caicedo replaced Michael Mancienne, Luis Caicedo, Diego Fagundez, and Teal Bunbury.

- Center backs Michael Mancienne and Antonio Delamea were both ruled out of tonight's contest with injuries.
