New England Revolution News Release

FRISCO, Texas - The New England Revolution Academy Under-19s advanced to the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Final on Friday afternoon after defeating FC Dallas, 2-1, at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. The U-19s advance to take on the San Francisco Glens on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. ET in the MLS NEXT Cup Final. The match will stream live on Twitch and YouTube.

In the second edition of the MLS NEXT Cup postseason tournament, this marks the second time a Revolution Academy team contested a semifinal, following the Under-15s run to the final four in 2021. Sunday will be the first time a Revolution Academy team contends for a championship in the newly founded MLS NEXT.

After a scoreless first half, New England opened the scoring with Jack Panayotou (2004 - Cambridge, Mass.) in the 49th minute, slotting the ball into the bottom-left side of the net following a through-the-legs pass from Isaie Louis (2005 - Everett, Mass.). Panayotou completed the brace in the 72nd minute with the game-winning goal, once again assisted by Louis, as he delivered a shot off the left post and into the back of the net. The two-goal performance gives Panayotou five goals for the tournament.

Dallas was able to get on the board with a penalty kick in the 86th minute, but the U-19s held on to their lead to defeat the hosts and secure their first trip to the MLS NEXT Cup Final.
