FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati forward Brenner has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 17, which spanned from Wednesday to Thursday. Additionally, midfielder Luciano Acosta earned a spot on the Team of the Week's bench.
Brenner became the first player in FC Cincinnati's MLS history to score a hat trick with his three goals Wednesday night against New York City FC. His 70th minute strike proved to be the equalizer in the 4-4 draw against the Cityzens.
The Brazilian striker also set career-highs in shots (5) and shots on target (4). Brenner earns his second career MLS Team of the Week honors, his first since Week 13 of last season.
Acosta scored his sixth goal of the season, and additionally for the third time in his FC Cincinnati career assisted two goals (9/11/21 vs TOR; 5/21/22 vs NE), more than any other player in club history (Ronald Matarrita, twice; Emmanuel Ledesma, once).
Acosta and Brenner became the fourth and fifth players in club history to net three goals + assists in a game in club history.
FC Cincinnati have earned 14 spots on the league's weekly Team of the Week this season. Since FCC joined MLS in 2019, Brenner and Acosta's recognitions are the 50th and 51st for the club on the MLS Team of the Week.
