- The New York Red Bulls (8-5-5, 29 pts.) defeated Atlanta United FC (5-7-4, 19 pts.), 2-1, on Thursday, June 30, at Red Bull Arena.
- Atlanta took the lead in the 75th minute, as Caleb Wiley sent in a ball from the edge of the box on the near side that was centered by Aiden McFadden. After a scramble for the loose ball, Josef Martinez sent in a shot.
- New York equalized in the 83rd minute. Luquinhas made into the near edge of the box and was taken down by Wiley, resulting in a penalty that was converted by Lewis Morgan.
- The Red Bulls went ahead in the 89th minute, as Serge Ngoma cut off a pass, made a run down the near side of the field, and placed a shot in the back of the net.
- New York has won five consecutive home matches across all competitions, outscoring opponents 14-3 in those matches.
- Since 2010, the Red Bulls have posted a 123-36-45 record and 414 points at Red Bull Arena. The 414 points are the most in MLS during that span.
- The club is 7-0-4 against Atlanta United in regular season history, including a 3-0-2 mark at Red Bull Arena.
- Morgan's goal was his eighth in MLS play and ninth across all competitions this season. Both are the team lead.
- His eight goals are tied for third across MLS, and he is tied for first among MLS midfielders.
- He has converted all three penalty kicks that he has taken this season, which leads the team.
- Morgan has scored in five-consecutive matches at Red Bull Arena across all competitions.
- The midfielder has four goals and two assists in his career against Atlanta.
- Ngoma's goal was his first in MLS and the fourth of his professional career. He scored three for New York Red Bulls II during the 2021 USL Championship season.
- He is the youngest player to score a goal in MLS this season at 16 years and 357 days old.
- The North Plainfield, New Jersey, native is the third-youngest player to score in club history after Jozy Altidore and Eddie Gaven.
- Ngoma is the third-youngest player in league history to score a game-winner in the 85th minute or later, behind only Freddy Adu and Eddie Gaven.
- His goal was the latest in a match for New York since Fábio scored in second half stoppage time against CF Montréal on October 30, 2021.
- The Red Bulls are the first team in league history to have three different players score a goal before their 17th birthday.
- Steven Sserwadda made his MLS debut in the match, coming on as a second half substitute. The Kampala, Uganda, native made his first team debut on Wednesday, June 22, in New York's U.S. Open Cup match against New York City FC.
- Following Saturday's match, New York will travel to face Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, July 3.
