Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
EDMONTON, ALTA. - The Edmonton Oil Kings reunited their top scoring line Tuesday night, and it paid off in spades.
The Oil Kings (8-11-3-0) two leading scorers, Lane Bauer and Brett Pollock, were slotted into the line-up with Davis Koch, and the trio contributed to five goals as the Oil Kings offence broke out for a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Giants (5-12-2-2) at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.
Bauer had two goals and two assists - the first four-point game for an Oil King this season -- while Pollock had a goal and two assists and Koch had two helpers as the Oil Kings posted a season-high six goals against the Giants. It was the first time the trio had played together since Koch was injured in Brandon on Oct. 10.
Edmonton opened the scoring 12:56 into the game as Andrew Koep poked a rebound past Giants netminder Daniel Wapple. Bauer's first of the game made it 2-0 before the break.
Vancouver cut the lead to 2-1 1:36 into the second period, but Ben Carroll restored the two-goal Edmonton lead 2:33 later with his first of the season.
In the third, Pollock notched his only goal of the season, sniping the top corner on Wapple just 30 seconds into the final frame. 42 seconds later, the Oil Kings made it 5-1 on their first power play of the game as Koep picked up his second goal of the game.
Brendan Semchuk made it a 5-2 game, but Dysin Mayo sprung Bauer on a break and he tucked a backhand into the Vancouver goal.
Edmonton finished 1-2 with the man advantage and killed all six Giants power plays. Patrick Dea made 26 saves to pick up the victory for Edmonton, while Wapple allowed five goals on 31 shots to take the loss for Vancouver. Ryan Kubic made 10 saves in relief of Wapple.
Edmonton outshot Vancouver 42-28.
The Oil Kings will be back in action Wednesday night as they pay a visit to the Victoria Royals.
