Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB -- The Tigers came into Manitoba on Wednesday night feeling a bit down from their game Tuesday with the Regina Pats. They dominated the team from the Queen City but came out with a 4-2 defeat. Wednesday night, they looked for revenge and get back into the win column.

Medicine Hat would open the scoring in the opening frame as rookie James Hamblin tipped in a Connor Clouston point shot off a faceoff 6 minutes in. The tip was Hamblin's second of the season and the assist was Clouston's 2nd point on the year. The Tigers had been doing a great job at fending off the Wheat Kings attack who were in a slump coming into this game, only scoring 5 times in their last 5 games. Less than a minute after the Hamblin goal, Tanner Kaspick would bury his 8th of the season to knot the game up at 1. 24 seconds later Brandon would score once again in what has been a trend this season for the Tigers, allowing back to back goals less than a minute between each other. Brandon would leave the first period with the 2-1 lead.

The middle frame found the Tigers on the wrong end of a turnover and Brandon took advantage as Duncan Campbell potted his 2nd of the season. However this time it was the Tigers chance to capitalize right back when Chad Butcher went top shelf on a 2 on 1 to cut the lead back to 3-2. The period was filled with board battles and board plays as both team's were keeping the neutral zone tight checking. Mack Shields and Logan Thompson were good in net with Thompson stopping 27 shots through 40 minutes.

In the third period the Wheat Kings got another early marker just 32 seconds into the period as Reid Duke tipped in a point shot by Macoy Erkamps giving the home team a 4-2 lead. Medicine Hat would get a glorious chance to get back into the game when Erkamps was given a 5 minute major for boarding and a game misconduct. The power play has not been great for the Tigers on the road but they would get some chances early on Thompson, but he was good with his rebounds and Medicine Hat was unable to cash in. Brandon would take a second penalty and forced a 5 on 3 for the Tigers but a too many men penalty wiped out the advantage with only 2 shots on the opportunity. Another penalty to the Tigers later on would cancel out the remainder of the 5 minute major as the Tigers went 0 for 6 on the man advantage on this night.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME:

1. LOGAN THOMPSON - BDN - (42 SAVES, W)

2. DUNCAN CAMPBELL - BDN - (1G)

3. REID DUKE - BDN - (1G, 2A)

The Tigers continue their 4 game in 5 night swing back at home against the visiting Everett Silvertips. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.ca or by calling 1-855-985-5000.
