Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: Reno looks to shake off eight consecutive losses tonight as the Fresno Grizzlies head to Greater Nevada Field. RHP Taylor Clarke looks to avenge his last start in Fresno. The right-hander out of Ashburn, VA went 4.2 innings on Monday afternoon and allowed five runs on six hits in a losing effort at Chukchansi Park. With a win tonight, the Aces will avoid tying their all-time record for most consecutive losses (9, 7/4/10 through 7/15/10.

About Last Night: Reno dropped their eighth consecutive contest Friday night, bringing Reno to a record of 4-12. El Paso tagged Reno starter Braden Shipley for eight runs and 11 hits in Shipley's fourth start of the season. Offensively, Reno tallied three runs on ten hits, but couldn't handle El Paso's high-octane offense. Reno pitchers allowed 11 runs on 15 hits and walked three.

Record-breaking Start: Through 16 games, no Aces team has ever started worse than 4-12. The last time Reno started worse was in 2013, when the team went 5-11 to start the year. Catcher Michael Perez (.317) and Socrates Brito (.313) have been two of the few offensive bright spots this season. Jake Barrett (1.29 ERA) and Jared Miller (3.38 ERA) lead the Reno pitching staff in ERA.

Position, Pitcher: Daniel Robertson made his second appearance on the mound this month last night against El Paso. In 2.0 innings of work, the natural infielder has allowed five runs on four hits, but has struck out three. The right-hander has as many, or more, strike outs than Jimmie Sherfy, Tyler Pill, Jake Buchanan, Michael Blazek and Matt Koch. On Friday Night, Robertson tossed a perfect 1-2-3 inning and punched out two.

Saint Mary's Home Run for Life: Don MacGregor rounded the bases commemorating his "Home Run for Life" in the middle of the second inning Friday night. The Reno and El Paso players lined up along each baseline to greet MacGregor as he makes his way toward home plate while his story of adversity and triumph is publicly announced to the stadium crowd. After being diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis, MacGregor had open heart surgery on February 13, 2018 and walked out of Saint Mary's the very next day with a new aortic valve.

No, No History: As he walked to the plate with two outs in the eighth inning of what would become a 4-1 loss for the D-backs, the odds seemed stacked against Christian Walker. Padres starter Tyson Ross was throwing a no-hitter as the reigning PCL MVP walked to the plate. Walker hit a slider over the head of Franchy Cordero in center for a double to break up the no-hitter and, more importantly, drive in the tying run.
