Rainiers Fall In Finale To Isotopes, 7-5

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (8-7) dropped their series finale to the Albuquerque Isotopes (7-9) by a final score of 7-5 on Friday night at Cheney Stadium.

Tacoma starter Christian Bergman (2-1) allowed five runs on 10 hits over 4.0 innings of work. He struck out six and issued no walks on 76 pitches (54 strikes).

The first four batters in the Rainiers lineup combined to go 9-for-16 with three runs scored, one RBI, and four walks. Left fielder Gordon Beckham (2x4, 2 R, BB), center fielder Taylor Motter (2x4, R, BB), right fielder Cameron Perkins (2x5), catcher Chris Herrmann (3x3, RBI, 2 BB), and shortstop Zach Vincej (2x5, R) all collected multiple hits.

Right-hander Ashton Goudeau (3.0 IP) allowed two runs on three hits over three innings of relief while striking out four. Lindsey Caughel (2.0 IP) closed out the game with two scoreless frames and a pair of strikeouts.

Next the Rainiers kick off a three-game series against the Sacramento River Cats on Saturday night at 5:05 p.m. PT. Tacoma right-hander Casey Lawrence (1-0, 0.00) will open the series against Sacramento lefty Andrew Suarez (0-0, 0.00).
