Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez clubbed three hits, including a home run, and outfielder Alex Gordon reached base three times, while Storm Chasers starting pitcher Trevor Oaks retired each of the final ten batters faced over seven solid innings in Omaha's 6-2 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Saturday night at Werner Park.

Perez slapped a line drive single to left in the first inning, and then moved to second when Gordon drew the first of his two free passes. Both would come plateward courtesy of DH Frank Schwindel 's two-run double to right-center field. That two-spot answered the Sounds' solo tally in the top of the first when CF Dustin Fowler lofted a sacrifice fly to center.

After Omaha scored a run on a fielding error in the second, Gordon followed with an RBI single to right to increase the advantage to 4-1. Nashville narrowed the deficit to two in the fourth prior to Perez's solo smash in the fifth. Perez later doubled to right-center for his third and final knock of the night in the seventh and was replaced by pinch runner Terrance Gore , who came across via 2B Ramon Torres ' run-scoring single to center to cap the scoring.

Perez (3-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, RBI) posted a game-high with his three hits, while 3B Jack Lopez (2-4, R, 2B) also recorded a two-hit effort. In six games as part of his Major League Rehab Assignment, Perez has hit .381 (8-21) with three runs, one double, two homers and four RBI with at least one hit in all six tilts.

Oaks recorded his third consecutive quality start of the year, earning his first victory of the year after yielding two earned runs on four hits in seven frames. The right-hander set down each of the final ten batters he faced. Relievers Eric Stout (1.0 IP, K), Mike Broadway (0.2 IP, 2 BB, K) and Richard Lovelady (0.1 IP, K) did not allow a hit the rest of the way in support of Oaks, with Lovelady notching his first Triple-A save. Nashville starter James Naile (5.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K) suffered the loss after entering today having not allowed a run over his first three outings of 2018.

The Storm Chasers and Sounds are set to continue their three-game set tomorrow with a Sunday matinee. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. CT. Omaha's starter has not yet been announced, while Nashville is anticipated to give the nod to RHP Frankie Montas (0-1, 6.75).

Tickets are still available for that game and all Storm Chasers contests throughout the 2018 season, and may be purchased at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets as well as by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
