Renegades Walk Off Again, 4-3 in 11 Innings

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Hudson Valley Renegades walked off winners for the second night in a row, beating the Aberdeen IronBirds 4-3 in 11 innings. Coty Blanchard had the game winning single to right field that scored Elias Torres and gave the Renegades the victory.

Stephen Tarpley got the start for the IronBirds. He got touched for three runs, one each in the second, third, and fourth innings. Two of the three runs came on solo home runs off the bats of Bralin Jackson and Hunter Lockwood.

Aberdeen got their first run of the game in the fourth inning. Alex Murphy took the first pitch of the inning and put it down the left field line for a double. Hector Veloz then followed with a dribbler down the third base line, and Murphy advanced to third, putting runners on the corners. With Oswill Lartiguez at the plate, a swinging strike got by Renegades' catcher Mac James and Murphy came in to score. Veloz advanced to second, but was picked off a short time later.

The Renegades led 3-1 heading to the top of the seventh inning. With two outs, Ronarsy Ledesma stepped up to the plate and launched a solo home run down the right field line, making it a one run game at 3-2 in favor of the Renegades.

The IronBirds would tie it in the ninth. Veloz took the first pitch of the inning to left field for a leadoff double. With one out, Ledesma came up and popped up, but a balk was called, allowing Veloz to head to third base. Ledesma used the second life he was given to put a ground ball through the middle of the infield, scoring Veloz and tying the game at three.

The Renegades went in order in the ninth, and the game went to extra innings.

In the tenth and eleventh innings, Aberdeen got a runner to second base, but could not get a run in. Hudson Valley would take advantage in the bottom of the eleventh. Torres got a leadoff infield single on a bouncer out in front of home plate. He was sacrificed over to second, and advanced to third on a groundout. Blanchard came up with two outs and put a ball in play just out of the reach of IronBirds' right fielder Alexander Mercedes, allowing Torres to score and giving the Renegades their second win in a row.

Garrett Cortright took the loss for the IronBirds. He went 3.2 innings, allowed two hits, one run, and one walk, striking out two. Josh Kimborowicz earned the win after pitching the tenth and eleventh innings for the Renegades.

The IronBirds and Renegades will do battle again tomorrow evening at 5:05 p.m. Dylan Bundy will get the start for Aberdeen in a rehab appearance. He will be opposed by Nolan Gannon.
